Usually we celebrate this holiday on the first or second Saturday of September. I am so much happy to be a part of this city. The weather is so beautiful, people have just come back from vacation, children are happy.
This holiday we celebrate every year. The main celebrations are taking part in the main streets of the city: Tverskaya street, the Red Square, Vasilievsk spusk, Vorobievi gori and so on. We went to different places for celebration and I can say that all the places are decorated and very beautiful. There are concerts, street markets, presents, disco and so on.
Moscow is a huge and wonderful city. There are also many foreigners here and very often they come to Moscow to celebrate with us. I am always exciting because I meet new interesting people on this day.
The preparation starts few weeks before. People clean the streets and gardens, grow flowers and do everything to make our city more beautiful. I like to observe how everything is changing.
Even if in future I move to another country I will come back here every year with my family for this special day. All the citizens love and respect this holiday. We love Moscow and we hope any foreigner always feels here a welcomed guest.

Many people say that the birthday is their favourite holiday. Usually it is said by children because the birthday is the time of gifts, joy and happiness. Some adults do not like celebrating birthday because it brings to mind thoughts about the age, achieved results and many other things.

Usually they present books, especially which are connected with the foreign languages, different things for embroidery and many other gifts. Some of my friends create something unusual and spring a surprise on me. They also present things which remind of our friendship.

Birthday is a very wonderful day. Everybody likes to celebrate it. It is a good opportunity to spend time with friends, parents, relatives.
I was born on the 10th of January. In the morning on my birthday my parents lay the presents near my bed. So the first thing I see when I open my eyes is my presents. My Mom and Daddy and my little brother come to my room to congratulate me and to sing “Happy Birthday”.
Usually we hold my birthday party in the evening. Once we went to a cafe to celebrate my birthday, but usually we celebrate it at home. We clean the house the day before birthday. In the morning of birthday party day my father goes shopping and buys everything we need.
My mother bakes a cake or pie. By the evening food is cooked, the table is laid. We put on evening suits and dresses and wait for the guests. The flat looks nice and cosy. I am always very glad to meet my guests. I like to get flowers and presents. Mom gives me the telegram from my aunt.
We have an abundant dinner on this day. Mom brings in the birthday cake. I blow the candles out. We dance and sing songs, play games and laugh, joke, tell funny stories. I think that my birthday is one of the best days in a year.

I live and study in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It’s my native city as I was born here. Kazan is located on the left bank of the Volga river and it was founded more than one thousand years ago. So it is a very old place, with rich and fascinating history. The population of my city is multinational and enormous: about one and a half million people. Kazan has changed greatly from the moment when I was born and it has grown much bigger, but still it keeps its own traditions and some strict religious rules. The people of my city are friendly and hospitable, polite and intelligent to my mind.
The capital of Tatarstan is a city of contrasts: there are quarters of modern high-rise buildings and districts with old historical places; some districts are awfully noisy and crowded, with long traffic jams, the others are very clean and quiet. Our transport system is really busy: we have a railway station, a big river port, an airport, buses, trolleybuses, trams and trains of the Kazan metro which was opened in 2005.
There are plenty of impressive sights for our guests in the historical centre of the city: the Kremlin of the 10th century, the Millenium bridge, the Kul-Sharif mosque and other beautiful cathedrals and mosques. Kazan has unique museums, able to suit any taste: the Fine Arts museum, the museum of Leo Tolstoy, the National museum of Tatarstan, the museum of Zoology.
My native city is a recognized sports capital of Russia. It has hosted many important sports events. The International Summer Universiade of 2013 was among them. And in 2018 our city is going to host the FIFA World Cup.
I feel proud of my birthplace and I am sure that Kazan is the place which is worth visiting at least once in our life. I know that many tourists from abroad come here and they feel enraptured with the local sights.
